Screen Solutions commitment to 'going green'
With so much industry focus on responsible manufacturing, Screen Solutions is proud to announce a further strengthening of their ‘green’ credentials with an ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management System (EMS) accreditation. This means all daily operations within the company are now centred on a commitment to the environment through responsible manufacturing – a passion first highlighted with the successful launch of Element, the market’s first fully recyclable screen range.
Funding for the scheme was secured via the Manufacturing Advisory Service (MAS) South East MAS, a government funded service providing companies with practical help and hands-on support in all aspects of manufacturing.
Following an initial consultation with Gary Barr, MAS South East Specialist, Screen Solutions was introduced to UKISO Ltd.
Dan Valovin, Managing Director, Screen Solutions, said: “Following initial funding and guidance from MAS South East we have now been accredited to ISO 14001 and we are delighted – it is another major step in our long-term business development strategy and we are proud to have been recognised for the significant work we do to promote continued responsible manufacturing. We are always working hard to improve our environmental performance, not only in response to legislation but also to satisfy customer expectations for green credentials higher up the supply chain.”
Gary Barr, MAS South East Specialist, said: “It is encouraging to see Screen Solutions dedicated to responsible manufacturing, particularly following the government’s recent commitment to low carbon business opportunities under the Low Carbon Industrial Strategy. It is important that energy usage and waste management become key priorities and MAS is working with manufacturers to understand and realise the actual business benefits of going greener.”
Having secured and achieved the ISO 14001:2004 EMS standard, Screen Solutions is now able to take advantage of new marketing opportunities and widen its customer base. They have since gone on to receive FISP accreditation. FISP is the ‘Furniture Industry Sustainability Programme’ and is a valuable tool in helping secure government and large corporate tenders, as well as gaining competitive advantage on other manufacturers. Screen Solutions is the first dedicated Screen Manufacturer to be accredited with either ISO14001 or FISP.
